da dobrowin: As reported by The Daily Record, Rangers star Jason Holt is hoping that the Light Blues can put their rather modest short-term ambitions behind them this season and focus on bigger prizes going forward.
What’s the story?
da bet esporte: Rangers’ biggest problem over the last 12 months has been finding consistency, having failed to win three matches in succession since last December when Mark Warburton was still in charge of first team affairs.
After back-to-back victories against Aberdeen last week though, they have an opportunity to make it three-in-a-row this weekend at home to Ross County, perhaps finally putting their inconsistency behind them and going on an extended winning run.
Jason Holt is of course hoping that happens but has admitted it’s an ongoing ambition that isn’t ideal for his team to have.
As quoted by The Daily Record, the Rangers midfielder said:
It is not great we are even talking about trying to get three wins. At this club we should be going on far longer runs than that if we want to have ambitions to win things. That needs to change and that is something we are striving to do. I don’t think we have any mental anxiety, we just have lacked consistency over the past year.
Amidst speculation about Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes potentially taking the manager’s job at Ibrox, a win against Ross County would allow them to finally shed this particular weight off their shoulder and challenge for silverware in the new year.
What’s left this season?
While this term might already appear to be a lost cause to beleaguered Rangers supporters, there’s still plenty left in the season ahead for them to compete for.
The Scottish Cup sticks out as a realistic objective, stopping another Celtic treble and laying down a marker that they are ready to compete in the upper reaches of Scottish football.
Finishing second ahead of Aberdeen must also be seen as a priority, getting as close as possible to the Hoops, even if the prospect of challenging for the league title is unlikely given the points gap already opening up.
First though they need to ditch the baggage of being unable to string together three wins and as a work-in-progress between managers, perhaps Jason Holt might need to be patient before focusing on the success he craves.
