However, Saul signed a new contract with his beloved club during the summer; a contract which has a release clause of £133million. While the Blues are unlikely to pay this much, reports suggest that Conte will not give up his pursuit of the talented Spanish star without a fight
How good has Saul been for Atletico Madrid this season?
Like much of Atletico Madrid’s team this season, Saul is far from finding his form of recent years, The 22-year-old, who is valued at £36million by Transfermarkt, is still one of the clubs top performers however.
Saul has featured in 12 games for Diego Simeone’s men this season and has frequently dominated the midfield, with his unrivalled energy and talents in both offensive and defensive phases of play.
Would Saul be a good signing for Chelsea?
Strong, skillful, intelligent and passionate; Saul has these characteristics in abundance. With the Spanish contigent at Chelsea getting larger by the transfer window, Saul would have no problem fitting in.
