da dobrowin: Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left far from impressed by Lukas Podolski’s tongue-in-cheek tribute to White Hart Lane.
da winzada777: The 31-year-old, who recently retired from international duty with Germany, has used Twitter a handful of times to aim digs at Spurs.
Despite leaving Arsenal after a three-year spell in 2015, Podolski has taken the North London rivalry with him, and he used an opportunity to poke fun at Spurs when they held their final ever match at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
The club have been based on that turf for 118 years, but they are closing in on a move to a new state-of-the-art ground being built next door.
While many Tottenham fans and ex-players relived their best memories of the Lane, Podolski opted to remind his old rival about Arsenal’s success at the stadium.
In a series of pictures, the German World Cup winner used one of manager Arsene Wenger celebrating winning the Premier League title at the Lane in 2004.
As expected, Spurs fans were not happy with Podolski’s dig, and some hit back by pointing out to the forward that he was not even part of the team that won the title 13 years ago.
Others referred to his previous celebrations of ‘St Totteringham’s Day’, which did not take place this year as Spurs will finish above Arsenal in the Premier League for the first time in 22 years.
