da dobrowin: Welcome to another edition of Fantasy Premier League Forecasting Good Fixtures, in which we look at the teams that have a great opportunity to perform well over the coming weeks.
da brdice: We had a few surprising results this past weekend, but none of them were bigger than Leicester City’s incredible 3-1 win over Manchester City at the Etihad… a victory that has finally convinced bookmakers to make the Foxes title favourites the first time this season.
And before their win over City and their triumph against Liverpool, we saw Leicester’s run as a difficult set of games which may only yield them a couple of points.
But like they did all season, Claudio Ranieri’s men proved us wrong and are five points clear at the top.
However, we aren’t looking for things that are unpredictable, as Fantasy Premier League managers want games that their assets SHOULD do well in.
So without further ado, here are Three Teams with Good Fixtures ahead of Gameweek 26.
Stoke City
Stoke City may be on an unbelievably bad run of form, but they have an awesome opportunity to turn it around with three winnable fixtures coming up on their schedule.
The Potters face Bournemouth (Away), Aston Villa (Home), and Newcastle United (Home) in their next three games, which on paper will be music to manager Mark Hughes’ ears.
These fixtures should give attacking midfielders like Marko Arnautovic (6.4) and Xherdan Shaqiri (6.4) the chance to shine, while Philipp Woschield (4.5) and goalkeeper Jack Butland (5.1) could be decent options in defence especially if Ryan Shawcross (4.8) recovers from an injury in time for Aston Villa.
West Ham United
West Ham United have also just come off a disappointing loss to Southampton, losing 1-0 despite having one more man for almost an entire half following the red card to Victor Wanyama.
But if Slaven Bilic wants to be in Europe next season, games against Norwich (Away) and Sunderland (Home) are fixtures that they need to win to complete their objective. After clashes against the relegation strugglers, the Hammers host in-form Tottenham Hotspur at Upton Park… but Spurs will be jaded from playing Fiorentina in the Europa League and Swansea in the space of just three days.
Dimitri Payet (8.2), despite his recent blanks, is their main man. But consider Enner Valencia (5.9) and Michail Antonio (5.3), who are both on great form.
Chelsea
Chelsea may be out of the title race and most likely out of the Champions League next season, but the Blues have been unbeaten since the arrival of Guus Hiddink and could be back in the top ten after their next few games.
The Blues host Newcastle United this weekend before matches against Southampton (Away), Norwich City (Away), and Stoke City (Home).
Diego Costa (10.6) is becoming the elite striker he was last season with six goals and two assists in his last eight games, while Blues defenders such as Cesar Azpilicueta (5.7) and Branislav Ivanovic (6.6) have picked up two clean sheets in their last three. Willian (7.0), who has been their best player this term, could also come back to the fore after several blanks.
