The Manchester United fan refusing to cut his hair until Ruben Amorim’s side win five games in a row was branded an “attention-seeking c***” during an angry exchange with another Red Devils supporter at Old Trafford. Frank Ilett was in attendance to watch a much-needed victory over Chelsea, but his presence ruffled a few feathers behind the scenes as he attracted some unwanted attention.
When hair cut vow was made
Ilett has become almost impossible to miss, with his curly hair now fully out of control. That is because he has not had a trim since vowing on October 5, 2024 not to cut his locks until United secured five successive wins.

The Red Devils have not managed more than three victories on the bounce since then, with back-to-back successes only being enjoyed on six occasions. They did get back to winning ways against Chelsea, with Ilett on hand to witness a battling 2-1 win that was secured after both sides were reduced to 10 men and torrential rain made playing conditions treacherous.
Angry confrontation on Old Trafford concourse
Footage has emerged online of Ilett being confronted by a fellow supporter at one stage, with his hair being grabbed and head being shaken. His attacker is heard shouting while being dragged away: “F*ck off, I’ll do what I f*cking want. Listen, he’s not a United f*cking fan.”
Ilett's reaction to hair grab & head shake
Ilett went on to tell of the unfortunate incident: "Yeah, it was a bit weird to be honest! I thought he was just joking to start with, but then he started yanking my hair and calling me an 'attention-seeking c***'.
"The whole day was full of hundreds of positive interactions yesterday and 99 per cent of all of the reactions to this challenge has been nice. But just a few people can ruin it!
"My intention with this challenge was never to highlight Man United's flaws. It was always and always will be to spread humour and positivity to United fans in a difficult time. I never expected it to go on for so long, but I'm hopeful we can go on a good run soon and I, more than most, want these wins to come as soon as possible! I will always try to focus on the positives and hope that this was just a one-off."
