da cassino: Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has claimed that Marcus Rashford has the ability to become a world-class player in the mould of Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo.
da poker: Rashford reached double figures for the season on Thursday night when he netted Man United’s winner in their Europa League quarter-final second leg against Anderlecht.
The 19-year-old, who burst onto the scene last season, has become a feature of Jose Mourinho’s lineup in recent months, and the England international has been tipped to become one of the stars of the world game by a former Man United legend.
Scholes told BBC Radio 5 live:
“He has always been a centre forward. When I saw him playing for the young United teams, he was scoring 30-40 goals a season.
“I know this lad can finish and score goals. I am just a little bit worried that he is so quick he may get shoved out wide, which is not a bad thing.
“You look at Cristiano Ronaldo’s record and players like Neymar, he has that kind of ability. It is a lot to live up to but he has that in him. He can be a world star.”
Rashford has only netted five times in 26 Premier League appearances for Man United this season, although the teenager has mainly been forced to operate in a wide position.
However, a serious injury to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, which is expected to end the Swede’s season, should see Rashford promoted to the centre-forward position for the remainder of the 2016-17 campaign.
